10th Anniversary Gloucester Shakespeare on Avon Festival The 2008 Shakespeare on Avon Festival will be held on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 May at Gloucester Recreation Grounds – within walking distance of the CBD. The site offers plenty of parking and disabled access. The Stray Dogs Theatre Company will be presenting Henry IV, Part 1. Stray Dogs is an award winning small, profit – share company, formed by husband and wife team Carl Caulfield and Felicity Biggins. Gloucester people would remember Carl as Bottom in the Gloucester production of Shakespeare et al’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Performances will be held on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8.30pm and a Matinee on Saturday at 1.30pm. Stray Dogs’ production of Henry IV, Part1 will be a shortened adaptation set in contemporary England - pacey, with high energy. Henry IV, Part 1 has some of Shakespeare’s most powerful scenes and is one of his most popular plays. With battles and dastardly tricks, betrayals and plotting, bawdy comedy and game playing, love scenes and murders, it promises to bring full-blooded entertainment to the marquee at Gloucester.
